ADMISSION POLICY



Purpose

The purpose of this admission policy is to provide a transparent and comprehensive framework for the admission process at St. Gregorios Dental College required for admission into the BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) and MDS (Master of Dental Surgery) programs. The policy is designed to ensure fairness, equality, and adherence to relevant regulations and guidelines.


Scope

This admission policy applies to all prospective students seeking admission to St.Gregorios Dental College's BDS and MDS programs. The policy covers the admission process, eligibility criteria, seat availability, fee structure, and necessary documents for submission.

Procedure for Admission

The admission to St. Gregorios Dental College for both BDS and MDS programs is conducted through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).


BDS Eligibility Criteria:
  • Candidates must have completed 17 years of age on or before December 31 of the admission year.
  • Applicants must have passed the 10+2 examination or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as compulsory subjects. Candidates must have obtained a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (50% marks for biology separately) in the qualifying examination.
  • In respect of candidates belonging to SC, ST, OEBC, OBC and other backward classes, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in the qualifying examination will be 40% instead of 50% as above and must have qualifying marks in English.
  • Applicants must also qualify for NEET and obtain the minimum required score (50%).
  • The college shall be entitled to fill up 10% of the seats to children of staff, management and trustees. The college can apportion the seats to various categories or within the community or denominations based on inter-SC merit.


Nativity:
Only Indian citizens of Kerala origin are eligible for admission. Children or dependents of Non-Resident Indians, Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)/ Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) will also be treated at par with Indian citizens for the limited purpose of admission.

Character and Conduct:
Candidates must produce a certificate of good character and conduct from the head of institution last studied.


Admission Procedure for BDS

General:

  • All applicants must appear for the NEET and obtain a valid score. Only those candidates who secure 50% marks in the NEET exam will be considered for admission for BDS seats.
  • Based on the NEET score, a merit list will be prepared.
  • Candidates will be called for counselling sessions according to their rank in the merit list.
  • Selected candidates must complete the necessary admission formalities and pay the prescribed fees within the specified timeline to secure their seat.

Introduction:


This college is affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences and approved by Dental Council of India. This college is a member of the Malankara Jacobite Syrian Christian Education (MJSCE) Trust.

Number of seats available for BDS is 50.

  • Merit Quota seats – 33
  • NRI Quota seats – 7
  • Community Quota – 10

Fee Structure: The fee structure shall be decided based on the Govt. approved norms.


MDS Eligibility Criteria:
  • Candidates must not be younger than 20 years of age.
  • Candidates must possess a BDS degree from a recognized dental institution.
  • Applicants must have completed a 12-month rotating internship on or before the date specified by the Dental Council of India.
  • Candidates must qualify for NEET-PG and achieve the minimum required score.

Character and Conduct:
Candidates must produce a certificate of good character and conduct from the head of institution last studied.


Admission Procedure for MDS

  • NEET-PG is the qualifying examination for admission to the MDS program.
  • Candidates must have a valid NEET-PG score to be eligible for admission.
  • A merit list will be prepared based on the NEET-PG score.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be invited for counselling, where they can choose their preferred specialization based on availability and merit.
  • Selected candidates must complete the admission formalities and submit the required fees within the given timeframe.

General Fee Structure

The fee structure for BDS and MDS programs will be set by the college administration and reviewed annually. The detailed fee structure will be communicated to the candidates during the counselling process. Selected candidates must pay the prescribed fees within the specified timeline to confirm their admission.


Documents to be submitted

Candidates must submit the following documents during the admission process:

  • Completed application form with all necessary details.
  • NEET/NEET-PG scorecard.
  • Mark sheets and certificates of the qualifying examinations (10+2/BDS).
  • Birth certificate or proof of age.
  • Internship completion certificate (for MDS applicants).
  • Category certificate (if applicable).
  • Passport-size photographs.
