CONSULTANCY POLICY
St. Gregorios Dental College recognizes the value of consultancy services provided by faculty members and staff. This policy establishes guidelines and procedures for engaging in consultancy activities while ensuring that such activities align with the college's mission, values, and commitments.
Definitions:
- Consultancy: Consultancy refers to professional services provided by faculty members or staff outside their regular employment at the college, using their expertise and knowledge in a specific field or subject area.
- Consultant: A consultant is a faculty member or staff engaged in providing consultancy services.
Eligibility and Approval:
- Faculty members and staff who possess expertise, qualifications, and experience relevant to the proposed consultancy services may engage in such activities.
- Prior approval must be obtained from the appropriate authority within the college before engaging in any consultancy project or activity.
- Approval will be granted based on the assessment of the proposed consultancy project's compatibility with the college's mission, the consultant's availability, and potential conflicts of interest.
Conflict of Interest:
- Faculty members and staff involved in consultancy activities must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that may arise from the consultancy project.
- The college will assess the disclosed conflicts of interest and determine whether they can be appropriately managed or if mitigation measures are required to maintain objectivity, integrity, and transparency.
Intellectual Property:
- Intellectual property rights resulting from consultancy projects will be governed by relevant college policies and any agreements or contracts established between the consultant and the client.
- The college may have the right to use or reference the consultancy work for educational or promotional purposes, subject to the consultant's approval and adherence to applicable intellectual property laws.
Time Commitment and Workload:
- Faculty members and staff must ensure that their consultancy activities do not adversely affect their primary responsibilities within the college, including teaching, research, and administrative duties.
- A reasonable balance between consultancy activities and regular college responsibilities should be maintained, and potential conflicts in workload should be managed effectively.
Financial Considerations:
- Consultancy fees, remuneration, or any financial arrangements related to consultancy projects should be agreed upon in advance between the consultant and the client.
- The college is not responsible for negotiating or managing financial aspects of consultancy projects, and any financial transactions should occur directly between the consultant and the client.
Code of Ethics:
- Consultants are expected to adhere to professional standards, ethical guidelines, and legal obligations relevant to their consultancy activities.
Review and Evaluation:
- The college will periodically review and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the consultancy policy and procedures, making any necessary revisions or updates to ensure its alignment with the college's strategic goals and evolving needs.
