The aim of medical microbiology course is to introduce basic principles and application in relevance of various clinical diseases for students who are in preparation for Dentists. 

The student should be equipped with knowledge of prevalent communicable diseases and emerging and re-emerging pathogens.

The student should understand the methods of Sterilization and Disinfection and their role in controlling Hospital acquired infections.

The student should understand the proper collection, transport and processing of dental samples for microbiological investigations.

To understand the basic principles of immunology and its clinical relevance to dentistry.

To demonstrate development of sound attitudes in relation to the role of Medical Microbiology in dentistry.
