St Gregorios Dental College, guided and overlooked by the Malankara Jacobite Syrian Christian Education Trust was established in 2005 with the blessings of our patron saint St. Gregorios of Malankara, with a vision to impart world-class dental education and quality dental care. The college with the motto ‘Not to be Ministered but to Minister’, strives to produce intellectually competent, morally upright and service oriented dental graduates capable of serving all class of populations. It endeavors to provide leadership towards educational, humanitarian and cultural activities of the community, irrespective of caste, creed or gender.

The college is surrounded by greenery in a sprawling campus of 6.47 acres of land in a rural ambience with a variety of flora, fauna. It is situated in Chelad, about 6 km from Kothamangalam town, 35 km from the nearest railway station, 35 km from the Cochin International airport, 7 km from Thattekad Bird Sanctuary, 6 km from Bhoothathankettu Dam on the Periyar River and is at the foothills of the Western Ghat mountain Ranges. The campus is well connected by road.

The college is recognized by the Dental Council of India (DCI). It was earlier affiliated to the Mahatma Gandhi University (MG University) Kottayam. Since 2010, it has been affiliated to the Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS). The college follows all the rules and regulations put forward by these two Regulatory bodies. The College has been offering Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programme since 2005 and Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) in 3 Departments since 2017. The 3 PG Departments are Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Prosthodontics and Crown and Bridge and Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. All 3 PG Departments are PhD centres under KUHS. The intake of students per year for BDS is 50 and for MDS is 8. Currently, one of our faculty is pursuing PhD at our centre.

The college has well-maintained infrastructure with advanced facilities for effective teaching learning and research. The major facilities include air-conditioned ICT enabled Lecture and Seminar halls, well equipped laboratories, skill laboratories, clinical departments, Medical Lab and a good Central Library with academic and non-academic books and journals. This is supplemented further with Department Libraries.

The college provides community service through dental camps, satellite clinics etc. A well-equipped mobile dental unit is utilized for this purpose. The college provides adequate facilities for outdoor and indoor games and other extracurricular activities like yoga, gym and various Clubs for a holistic development of the students. There is an indoor auditorium utilized for the conduct of both academic, cultural and club activities. A separate land area is being developed for the upcoming outdoor auditorium and sports complex. 

The college is blessed with dedicated and qualified faculty who strive to bring out the best in students, not just in academics but also by channeling them in developing their talents and guiding them to be healthy mentally, emotionally and socially. The college encourages the staff members to update themselves and enhance their expertise. Staff and students are encouraged to do research and publish/ present their findings in journals or conferences. The college envisions to emerge as a premier institute in dental education and as a hub for internationally acclaimed scientific and research activities. For this, we have an Incubation Centre.
