VISION

To impart future dental professionals with homogenized education capable of integrated diagnostic expertise.


MISSION

  • To impart fundamental knowledge on dental anatomy , oral histology and associated structures in physiological and pathological state.
  • To amalgamate clinical knowledge necessary for diagnosing diseases of maxillofacial region.
  • To emphasize on evidence-based learning approach, further strengthened with case discussion and recent advancements.
  • To be a diagnostic service provider to our patients.


OVERVIEW


1st BDS: Dental Anatomy, Embryology and Oral Histology

The course includes the subject of Dental Morphology, Oral Embryology, Oral Histology and Oral Physiology. A composite study of basic Dental Sciences & their clinical applications.


The student acquires basic skills in:

  • Histological study of oral  and  dental tissues using light microscopy.
  • Develop psychomotor skills in carving  of permanent teeth in wax blocks.
  • Identification of Deciduous & Permanent teeth
  • Age estimation based on  patterns of teeth eruption from plaster  study casts
  • Attain knowledge on laboratory techniques involving ground sectioning, decalcification, paraffin sectioning and H & E Staining.


2nd BDS and 3rd BDS: Oral Pathology, Oral Microbiology and Forensic Odontology

The course includes the subject of pathological lesions of head and neck region encountered in the oral cavity .The thorough knowledge of  this enables in making a better clinician.

The student acquires basic skills in:

  • Understanding the etiology and pathogenesis of oral diseases.
  • Light microscopic interpretation of common lesions affecting oral tissues
  • Correlating the relevant clinical and radiographic features with histopathologic characteristics to arrive at a diagnosis.
  • Theoretical knowledge on various aspects of Forensic Odontology  and practically estimating age using Gustafson’s method.


Internship Training

  • Case based discussions and journal presentation
  • Preparation and interpretation of peripheral blood smear
  • Training in exfoliative cytology and ground sectioning
  • Assisting in Histopathology and Medical laboratory
